I am blessed to serve on the Board of Director’s for CASA of the Coastal Bend.  The organization is filled with amazing people with LARGE hearts.  The opportunity came up for us to record some local children’s stories about the SPECIAL time they spent with their CASA’s during the not-so-special time spent in protective custody. They gave me free reign, without knowing I’ve never produced anything like this… needless to say I’m thankful for the opportunity, and I’m also glad that I was able to complete the project – officialy about one hour before the 20th Birthday Party Celebration. Here is the story of two young, brave men! – Micah DeBenedetto with MD Photograpy.

=373 total children the equivalent to about 15 classrooms

I am for the child who has been taken away from his parents for his own safety.  I am for the child who is in her fifth, sixth, or seventh, foster home.  I am for the child who has never been told he is loved, or smart, or strong.  I am for the child who believes in her heart that no one cares.

    20 years ago The Junior League of Corpus Christi and other community leaders saw a need to protect the children of our community and expedite the time these children spent in our judicial / foster care system.  On Saturday, September 8, 2012, CASA of the Coastal Bend would like to honor these Superhero’s along with our Court Appointed Special Advocates.   Without The Junior League of  Corpus Christi and all the other Super Community Leaders that voted to bring CASA to Corpus Christi – CASA would not be celebrating protecting the children of community for 20 years!   Thank you All!

Our 2011 stats show us that in Nueces, Aransas, and SanPat counties there were 975 children in foster care and only enough CASA volunteers to serve 408. CASA’s goal is to raise funds in the next 3 years to train and recruit enough volunteers so that every chid will have the advantage of their own advocate.  You can help.      While celebrating our 20th Birthday, we have decided to use this celebration to help achieve this lofty yet very obtainable goal.   This effort will cost right at 100,000 and we would love for you to be one of our Superhero’s!
